Yesterday was our first ever 'Bring a Friend to Cheer Day'!
We all invited friends, male or female, to come to our practice and learn some cheer leading basics. We all had a blast! We had mostly boys come out this time, but we still had a very productive practice. We had two stunt groups learning and working on basics.. After about forty-five minutes everyone was getting the hang of things, and starting to do more advanced stunts. This was the first time any of these boys had stunted, and they did amazing! If you would like to participate next time, we will be holding another 'Bring a Friend to Cheer Day' sometime in January. Details will be posted as soon as we set the date. :)

in between?
It's that time of year, where football season has ended and basketball season is not quite here. So its kind of of break time for the cheerleaders! Time for some to recover from injury and some to catch up on some sleep! :) So right now there isn't a whole lot going on. :)

BasketBall Season
it's almost that time of year...Basketball season. I enjoy basketball season so much more than football season. it seems like everyone gets more involved with the game. The crowd actually participates with us which is nice, because football season its hard for people even to hear us. I don't know if we are going to have any cheer competition at any of the games since we switched divisions but we'll see :)
I hope we get a huge crowd out at our games this year! hope to see you There <3

Bittersweet!
The homecoming game was amazing! Many alumni showed up and cheered, danced, and stunted with us. It was a very exciting time and we loved seeing all the old cheerleaders and catching up. The crowd seemed to enjoy all the extra cheerleaders too. :)
Our last football game of the season is on Friday! Football season is a lot of work, but the thrill of standing and cheering on the sidelines makes up for it! The game is away, in Lindsay. This is the only away game we've gone to this season, due to there not being available space on the buses. We're very excited to go and cheer on our boys as they play they're last game!

Homecoming Week
Homecoming week is one of the biggest weeks for cheer.& The homecoming theme is Circus! We always plan the best of the best routine for the Homecoming Rally. But this year? It came at us really fast this year, which makes this one of the most stressful weeks of the whole school year. But on a serious note, this friday, the homecoming game is our last home game. So this is the last game for cheer. I'm ready for basketball season now!

First Home Game!
Hey guys! Tonight is Granite Hills' first home Football game! We're super excited to cheer on our boys. :) We've been working really hard on sidelines, stunts, and cheers to perfect them for our crowd tonight..Yesterday we had practice from 3:30-6:30, and went out on the track to actually practice exactly like we will be cheering tonight. We even have been working with some guys for some extra power and height in stunts. So pay attention tonight, we're gonna be amazing. :)

Cheer season is back!
Cheer season is here! GHHS Cheer has been working hard all summer, 5:30 AM - 9:00 AM, 4 days a week to prepare for the upcoming season! Perfecting sidelines, cheers, and stunts has been our main focus. We've come a long way since last year, and its really exciting to see how much progress we've made! Our new Coach is Tammy Rice, who stepped up to take the job at the end of last season; our new adviser is Cindy Lamb. We've really been pushing at practice to be the best we can be at everything we do, and I really think it'll show this year at games and performances. :)

Bittersweet ending?
Bitersweet ending?
our coach recently told us that she will no longer be coaching. Yeah she can be tough on us, and drill us hard over summer.. but you know what? WE ALWAYS LOOKED GOOD. She taught us to be tough, and after awhile you learn to take her criticism and if you do what she says, it ends up looking great. I think a lot of us took her for granted. She didn't "quit" on us, she simply is burned out she's been coaching for such a long time and has grand kids and other things to do. It might not have hit some of the girls yet, but our coach will be missed.

off season.
It's now cheer off season, which means cheerleaders can now play a spring sport. :) some really take advantage of this, it's an opportunity to stay in shape until cheer season again.. and some take this time to relax and re cooperate. :) We have such a busy schedule during cheer season that some girls just need some time for themselves! We start our new season this June, with practices usually every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 6-9 AM in the gym.

Little Girls Camp Overview :)
Little girls camp was a success this year! We had over 100 girls show up. :)
It was super fun, but superrrrrrrrr stressful. One girl puked, one girl pooped her pants, one girl lost a tooth, and one girl had hives! It was pretty crazy...
Lunch was really fun, and a great bonding time.. We had hotdogs, chips, and juice. After they ate the girls got to get their face painted and play games..
At 2:30 the girls performed for their parents..
We had a huge crowd and it was a great turnout.

that WAH moment.
We always see competition teams, looking cute and throwing up AMAZING stunts. YES, we know it's hard work... but it would pay off. I wish we could just get our school name and cheerleaders out and recognized. it gets annoying when Monache and Porterville cheer thinks they're SO MUCH better than us. When in reality, we dance and stunt the best in porterville. If we got our school out and show off how great we are maybe we could get more students enrolling at Granite. MAYBE if we could get to competitions, we could show the other schools how good we actually are..... Another thing, maybe if we brought home some trophies, we would get respect from other sports who claim we do nothing but shake our pom poms.. so that is a WAH MOMENT.

painting signnnsss
i think cheerleaders should be helping ASB paint signs, i mean when the cheerleaders paint signs for little girls camp they always come out GOOD. but sometimes it seems like ASB is very unappreciated towards the cheerleaders.. we would help out more if they asked us to. BUT NO ONE DOES.
a lot more people than you think try and put down us cheerleaders which is very unfair. it really gets to some of us. so next time you see a cheerleader around... tell them they're doing a good job. :)

bittersweet ending
Last night was our last basketball game. It was our Senior cheerleaders LAST GAME ever as a granite hills cheerleader. They performed at half time and it was SUPER bittersweet. :/
Next up on our agenda is LITTLE GIRLS CHEER CAMP! its soooo much fun, but so much work. i think in the end it all plays off when the parents come and watch and are so excited to see their little princess' preform. :)
Anyways, i think we were all ready for the season to end, now we have homework time on the weekdays! The seniors i think were even ready for the season to be over.
it was a good season and we look forward to next yeaaaaaar :)

The Best.
We're VERY competitive. When we have rivalry games, we HAVE to show the other teams cheerleaders that we're better than them, WAY better. Whether it's stunting, dancing, or cheering our team on, we're always the bessssssst. :)
Honestly, we put in a lot of work to get this far and be this good, so it would be nice to get recognition from staff and students at school. Just a simple "Good job" would be nice..But no.

blaaaaaah
Lately it seems all us cheerleaders are good for is being loud and cheery at basketball games. It's getting so tiring, a lot of us are run down and falling behind in homework considering we're cheering two to three games a week. All of us cheerleaders need a break! Just as we think cheer season is over here comes the little girls camp! We all enjoy the little girls camp,BUT it's A LOT of work. A LOT. It's worth it in the end though.
Cheerleaders do more than anyone ever thinks. It seems we never get the credit we deserve. At the winter sports rally that introduces all winter sports we got barely any recognition. Usually cheerleaders perform at rallies it's kind of our GAME time, but we weren't asked to. We also didn't get to vote for winter count and countette. Last time I checked if you are gonna introduce us as a WINTER SPORT than shouldn't we be included in the voting.
So those reading.. give cheerleaders a break, we are doing the best we can.

little girls cheer cammmmmp!!
Little girls cheer camp is right around the corner! we always get super excited about it :) every year towards the beginning of spring we have this camp, the ages range from four to twelve. We do many different activities with the girls. It's a great way for girls to meet other people. They learn a dance and a cheer and perform it in the afternoon for parents and friends. Last year it was a great success and everyone had a great time, hopefully its even better this year!

basketball season
Cheerleaders are always busy. ALWAYS. We never get homework time. Almost every night of the week there is either a basketball game, or practice. We're working extremely hard this season to be the very best we can be.
Games are always SO FUN. No matter if its a boy or a girls game, we cheerleaders always find a way to get the crowd going.
Right now we're preparing for the game against PHS. It's a lot of hard work, but the outcome is worth all the blood sweat and tears! :)
